As many as 42.5 million records of users of different dating apps remained found near a single Chinese database that doesnt own a password protection, a defense researcher obtains supposed.

Jeremiah Fowler on May 25 discovered a non password protected Elastic database that was clearly associated beside dating apps based on the names of the folders.

“The IP place is located on a US server what is more a mainstream of the users seem to be Americans based on their user IP what is more geo-locations. I also noticed Chinese text inside the database,” Fowler wrote near security Discovery on Tuesday.

The safety researcher believed the database’s owner existed moreover Chinese.

“Upon further investigation I happened able to identify dating apps available online beside the same names as those about the database. What really struck me as unfamiliar remained that despite all of them benefitting the same database, they demand to be developed plus separate companies or persons that attain not develop to match up by each other,” Fowler added.

The database, however, provided not include financial information.

According to the CyberScoop, Fowler wasn’t implicating the developers late the apps of doing anything depraved, the fact that they’d gone to such lengths to hide their identities existed inherently suspicious.
